Range Rules & Safety

Every range the association runs is governed by its Range Regulations and by the bye-laws for the discipline being shot. Read them before your first visit, and ask a Range Officer if anything is unclear.

The Range Regulations are Appendix D of the association’s Rules and Regulations, alongside the bye-laws for control of ammunition, for the operation of the vault, and for each discipline — fullbore rifle, ISSF, practical shooting and archery.

Bye-laws and range regulations in effect are posted on the notice board and on the ranges themselves, and are published in the current Rules and Regulations booklet. They are binding on members until repealed by the Committee or set aside at a General Meeting.

Nothing on this page replaces a Range Officer’s instruction on the day. On the range, the Range Officer’s command is final.

New to the range?

Members are taken through the safety brief before they shoot, and no one is put on a firing point until they have been. Call the office and we will tell you when to come.
